Conil de la Frontera is a coastal town in the province of Cádiz, famous for its long sandy beaches, located on the Atlantic coast within the Costa de la Luz. it has grown from a small fishing village to a very popular tourist destination. Its vernacular architecture is characterised by whitewashed houses, narrow streets, internal courtyards, and simple, low-rise buildings designed to provide shade and natural ventilation in the warm coastal climate. Notable landmarks include the Torre de Guzmán, the Church of Santa Catalina, which reflect the town’s medieval and maritime heritage. The surrounding landscape supports agriculture based on irrigated vegetable production, olive groves, vineyards, and livestock grazing, while fishing—particularly the traditional almadraba bluefin tuna fishery—has long been central to the local economy.
